From the reels straight into the studio
Sweet Bonanza is one of the most played slots in the Pragmatic Play portfolio. When the studio decided to build a game show of its own, it reached for a brand players recognise without any explaining.
CandyLand took over almost everything visual from the original: the pastel backdrop, the lollipops, the fruit candies and the same musical theme. The set looks like a child's bedroom converted into a television studio, and the host works it in a deliberately easy-going way.
Mechanically, though, this is something else. The slot is a reel machine; CandyLand is a live wheel with a host. What they share is the theme and a handful of references, not the game principle.
Worth knowing before you sit down to your first spin.
What is on the wheel and what actually pays
The wheel is split into two kinds of segment. Number segments pay your bet according to their value and form the backbone of the game; bonus segments pay nothing by themselves, but open a separate bonus game away from the wheel.
You always bet on a specific segment. Chips can go on several options at once, yet each one is settled separately — only the segment the wheel stops on pays.
The segments are not spread evenly. Lower values come up considerably more often than the bonus fields, which is standard for game shows: it is the rarity of the bonus that holds the maths together.
On top of that, a random multiplier can appear before a spin and spice the round up before the wheel even moves. The simpler Mega Wheel from the same studio uses a similar idea.
Three bonus games with three different characters
CandyLand has three bonus rounds and none of them is merely a variation on another. They differ in length, in pace and in how much the player has a hand in them.
The most talked about is Candy Drop, a bonus built on falling sweets. The other two work from different ideas: one is short and settled quickly, the other takes its time and the host presents it as a segment of the show in its own right.
They have one thing in common. A bonus starts only for players who had a bet on it in that round — anyone who backed the numbers alone watches it as a spectator.
Check the exact flow of each round in the game rules themselves; the game window always carries fresher information than an external text.
Candy Drop and the cascades carried over from the slot
Candy Drop is where the tie to the original slot shows most strongly. Instead of reels, sweets fall, and winning combinations are settled in cascades — once paid they vanish and make room for new ones dropping from above.
A single trigger can therefore produce several payouts in a row. The cascade carries on for as long as there is something to settle; when the chain stops, the bonus ends and play returns to the wheel.
There is no point guessing at specific amounts in advance. Most triggers finish in the lower part of the range, with the chain breaking before it gets going.
From a viewer's seat it is the best part of the show. From a budget's point of view it is the part with the longest wait.
The game data in one place
| Game | Studio | RTP | Format | Mechanics | Source | Verification date |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sweet Bonanza CandyLand | Pragmatic Play Live | 96.48% | slot-themed game show | wheel with number segments and sweet bonus segments, three bonus games including Candy Drop with cascading payouts | Pragmatic Play Live | 2026-09-17 |
The values come from the maker of the game and were last checked on 17 September 2026. Where the rules in the game window differ, the game window applies.
Where the maths hides the difference between bets
The figure of 96.48% applies to the game as a whole and is a long-run theoretical average. It is not a value you could measure over one evening at the table.
With game shows there is a further point: the individual betting fields do not share identical maths. A player who only backs the lowest number has a completely different session from one who pushes everything into the bonus fields, even though both are playing the same game.
Bonus bets are expensive in time: they return nothing for long stretches and then arrive with a result that looks like a miracle, when it is really accumulated variance. Low numbers behave the other way round.
Neither approach has the edge. They change the shape of the results, not the long-run average — and with game shows that is the point that matters most.
Sugar-coated production and pace fatigue
CandyLand is a loud game. Colours, sounds, commentary and quick turnover of rounds create a setting in which time slips away faster than at a classic table.
That is exactly why a limit set in advance is worth having here. Not out of fear, but because at a pace of several dozen rounds an hour the money staked adds up almost unnoticed.
Hosts rotate through shifts and their styles differ. It has no effect on results; it does affect the mood at the table.

CandyLand versus Crazy Time
Both games belong to the same category and players compare them constantly. The table below works purely with figures from the makers.
| Parameter | Sweet Bonanza CandyLand | Crazy Time |
|---|---|---|
| Studio | Pragmatic Play Live | Evolution |
| RTP per the maker | 96.48% | 96.08% |
| Format | slot-themed game show | game show with 4 bonuses |
| Number of bonus games | three | four |
| Theme | sweets, the Sweet Bonanza slot motif | television studio with no slot tie-in |
The gap in quoted return is small and you will not feel it in practice. The bigger difference is atmosphere: CandyLand is more colourful and calmer, Crazy Time louder and busier. A comparison of the wider category is in our ranking of the top game shows.
A summary before your first spin
CandyLand suits a player after a live show with simple rules, one who does not mind that most rounds end without a big moment. Fans of the original slot will appreciate the cascades in Candy Drop; everyone else, mainly how readable the wheel is.
What there is no point expecting: a steady ride. A run of dozens of rounds without a single bonus is entirely normal.
The live section has the Live Casino Bonus 500% up to 3,000 EUR + 15% Cashback ready for new players. Go through its terms before you confirm a deposit, not at your first withdrawal.
Playing is meant for adults of 18 and over and should stay entertainment. Set a time limit and a money limit in advance; with this type of game it pays off most of all.
