What this page answers and what it does not
We are an editorial site. We explain how live games work, what the numbers the makers publish alongside them mean, and what the technology at the player's end has to cope with.
What you will not find here: specific table limits, the exact terms of promotions or advice on improving your chances of winning. The first two change as they go, and the only wording that counts is the one you see in the casino itself. The third does not exist.
Every RTP figure we quote on this site comes from the studio that made the game and carries a verification date.
The questions below run from the most general to the most practical. Feel free to skip to the one you came for.
Four terms that keep coming up in the answers
Live game — the round is run by a real dealer in front of a camera, and the outcome is settled by a physical card, ball or wheel.
RNG game — the same game in software form, where the outcome is produced by a random number generator and no broadcast is running.
RTP — the theoretical return of a game in per cent, worked out over an enormous number of rounds. It is not a forecast for your session.
Latency — the delay between what is happening in the studio and what you see on your screen.
Where to find a fuller analysis
How the live section works as a whole, the categories of tables and the difference from software games are all covered on our page about the live casino.
The technology behind the broadcast, the connection speed you need and the causes of a stuttering picture are in the stream quality section. What is specific to phones and tablets we handle separately in the piece on live play on mobile.
Registration, identity verification and setting limits have their own page about the account. Self-control tools and contacts for help are in the responsible gaming section.
Frequently asked questions
What is a live casino?
It is the section where the round is run by a real dealer in a studio and the player follows it over a video stream. Bets are placed through an interface laid over the picture, but the outcome is settled by a physical ball, card or wheel, not by software. The broadcast runs without a break and the player joins in the middle of a shift already under way, not at the start of some cycle.
How does a live table differ from the software version of the same game?
In the source of the outcome and in the pace. The RNG version works the outcome out and the player sets the rhythm alone, and it can be played without a video stream at all. A live table runs on the dealer's clock: bets are taken within a window counted down by a timer, and there is no skipping a round.
What does RTP mean for a live game?
RTP is the theoretical return worked out over an enormous number of rounds. It describes the long-run average of the game, not how much you will get back over a single evening. Over a short stretch the actual result differs from that figure as a matter of course.
Why does RTP change with the type of bet?
In table games not every field has the same payout structure. In baccarat the quoted figure is tied to the banker bet, in blackjack to the main bet and optimal decisions. Side bets have parameters of their own and the quoted number does not apply to them.
Why do game shows have a lower RTP than blackjack?
Their payout structure rests on rare large outcomes, which have to be funded out of lower everyday payouts. Blackjack, by contrast, has flat payouts and the player influences the outcome through their decisions.
Does a higher RTP mean I am more likely to walk away in profit?
Not automatically. A higher figure means a lower theoretical margin per round, but it says nothing about variance. A game with a lower RTP and small payouts can feel calmer than a game with a higher RTP and big multipliers.
What kind of connection do I need to keep the stream from stuttering?
Stability matters more than top speed. The stream will put up with a lower picture quality; what it takes badly is short dropouts and a fluctuating response time. Wi-Fi within range of the router, or a cable, is as a rule more dependable than a weak mobile signal. If the picture keeps dropping out, the cause tends to lie in the device or in the number of open tabs rather than in the speed of the line.
What is latency and why does it matter in a live game?
It is the delay between what happens in the studio and the picture on your screen. The larger it is, the less time you actually have left to place a bet, even though the timer in the interface is showing the full interval. That is why it pays to bet before the countdown drops towards zero.
Does live casino work on mobile?
Yes, live tables are now built first and foremost for touchscreens. The interface adapts to the size of the display and some games have a vertical layout of their own. Expect higher data use and a faster-draining battery. On a weaker signal the picture quality drops automatically so that the stream does not fail altogether.
Why does a casino require identity verification?
It is a standard procedure confirming your age and that your details match your document. It tends to be a condition for using an account in full and is common across the industry. The details given at registration should therefore match the document from the outset. It is usually dealt with once and the player does not, as a rule, come back to it.
Where should I read the bonus terms?
Always in the casino itself, in the wording valid at the moment of activation. We mention the Live Casino Bonus 500% up to 3,000 EUR + 15% Cashback here as an offer, but we do not copy its parameters onto this site, because they can change.
Can I set limits of my own?
Yes, tools for capping deposits, stakes or time are a common part of an account across the industry. They help most when the player sets them in advance rather than in the middle of a session that has gone badly.
From what age is play allowed?
From the age of 18. Play is entertainment, not a way of sorting out a financial situation; when it stops being entertainment, it is time to take a break and look for help.
